Schmidt, Luetta Darlene
Luetta Darlene Schmidt, 85, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, died Saturday, June 30, 2012. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha by the Rev. Daniel Krueger. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Graveside Service: 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Victor, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
She is survived by her brother, LuVerne “Butch” (Audrey) Meinke of Las Vegas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Luetta was born Feb. 16, 1927, the daughter of John and Marie (Pexa) Meinke in Guernsey, Iowa. On June 14, 1964, she married Junior George Schmidt at St. John's Lutheran Church in Victor, Iowa. He died Jan. 11, 1992. Luetta was employed by Martin Marietta Corporation and later by the Cedar Rapids School System, retiring in 1982.
Luetta enjoyed spending her free time bowling.
