Schmidt, Kevin D.
Kevin D. Schmidt, 56, of Delhi, died Nov. 10, 2011, following a sudden illness. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester. Visitation will be from noon to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Kevin was born Dec. 11, 1954, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Arthur J. and Regina (O'Rourke) Schmidt. Following graduation from Maquoketa Valley High School, Kevin entered the United States Air Force and spent the majority of his tour of duty in England. It is here that Kevin developed his appreciation for soccer. Kevin then attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a degree in accounting. The majority of his working career was in manufacturing and cost accounting which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He married Resa Main on Sept. 1, 1979, at First Assembly of God in Des Moines, which resulted in his pride and joy, Allison. They were later divorced.
Kevin's most recent employer was Trapeze ITS, (Constellation Software) in Cedar Rapids.
Kevin's priorities were the Lord, Allison, baseball and work - in that order.
Kevin is survived by his daughter, Allison Schmidt of San Diego; his mother, Regina Schmidt of Dubuque; siblings, Doug (Julie) Schmidt of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Tom (Kathrin) Schmidt of Iowa City, Jane (Mike) Ruplinger of Iowa City and Colleen (Gerald) Hepnar of Rapid City, S.D.; one nephew, Jedidiah (Kimberly) Schmidt and their three children; and two nieces, Ashleigh and Lauren Hepnar.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Arthur J. Schmidt in 1979.
