Schlitter, Marjorie Mae
Marjorie Mae Schlitter, 87, Monona, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, with the Rev. Dennis Hopes officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, and one hour before services Thursday at the church. Burial to follow funeral services at the Monona Cemetery, Monona. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service is helping the family with the arrangements.
She was born June 15, 1925, in Monona Township, Clayton County, Iowa, to Emil and Lulu (Hensel) Schlitter. She was baptized and confirmed at the Pilgrim Evangelical Church. Marjorie attended rural Figgie School through the eighth grade. Marjorie worked along-side her parents and older brother, David on the family farm east of Monona. She enjoyed taking care of the farm animals and especially her pet dogs and cats. After her father's death the family moved to Monona in 1967. She was a devoted care giver to her mother and brother in their later years. Marjorie was a resident of Garden View Senior Center for five years, moving to the Good Samaritan Center, Postville in 2012.
Marjorie was an active member of the church, Pilgrim Evangelical and later Living Faith United Methodist, where she sang in the choir, was a member of United Methodist Women, enjoyed Wednesday mornings with The Young and the Rest of Us, and lent a willing hand whenever needed.
Marjorie was very talented in hand crafts and needlework, making many beautiful items through the years. She was also a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with others. Her other hobbies were plants and flowers, music, reading and traveling.
Marjorie is survived by and will be missed by many relatives and friends, in particular Keith and Dixie Kutzbach of Farmersburg and their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Schlitter.
