Schlicht, Francis R.
Francis R. Schlicht, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, the Rev. David Beckman of St. Matthew Catholic Church will officiate. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Reinbeck Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Michael Schlicht, and Barb (Russ) Schlicht, all of Cedar Rapids, Annette Schlicht of Champaign, Ill., and Chris Schlicht of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Gail) Stark, Cathleen (Mike Lorimer) Wood, all of Cedar Rapids, Mari (Steve) Hamilton of Anamosa, Ruth Olive of Cedar Rapids, and Betty (Brad) Hohenstein of Sidney, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; and his brothers, Ralph and Clair.
Francis was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Herman and Vera Schlicht. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Carolyn Ludley in August 1956 and was later divorced. He then married Patricia A. Stark on Dec. 29, 1972. She preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2011. Francis was employed as a machinist for many years.
Francis will forever be remembered as a caring and loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bulls.
He will be greatly missed.
