Schlesselman, John Charles
John Charles Schlesselman
9/20/1946 - 3/4/2013
Our dear John passed away to join our Lord and Savior.
He was born to Dutch and Teed Schlesselman in Raymondville, Texas, grew up in the family restaurant business at the Ranch Supper Club in Cou Falls, graduated from Prairie High and later from Northwest Missouri State. His marriage to Mary Kruger was blessed with two children.
His passions for hospitality, photography, and sales led him into many ventures through the years. He managed Newton Golf and Country Club, the Radisson Corporation in Edina, Minn., and his own Charlie's on the River in Cedar Rapids, then moved to Seattle, where his photographic skills bloomed. He most recently worked with his own company brokering intellectual property.
His love of family, church and friends gave him a deeply compassionate life. A man of strong faith, he volunteered countless hours at his church filming services and assisting with Bible studies.
Preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Skinny and Laura Schlesselman; brother, David; and grandson, Hudson McNeel, he is survived by his parents; sisters, Diane (James) Klinger and Carol (Robert) Rudd; children, David Schlesselman (Julie Scozzafave) and Heather (Warren) McNeel; granddaughter, Harper McNeel; and a large extended family.
