Schintler, Marilyn A.
Marilyn A. Schintler, 72, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab in West Branch. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.
Memorial donations may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, Pathways Adult Day Care in Iowa City, Crestview Nursing Home or University of Iowa Foundation for Alzheimers research.
Marilyn was born in Iowa City to Frank and Evelyn Clark on May 22, 1940. When Marilyn was born they didn't know at the time, her birth date symbolized a ZIP code now in Iowa City, 52240. She graduated from City High School, then attended Kirkwood Community College and received her degree in design from the University of Iowa.
Marilyn married Ronald in Iowa City on June 27, 1962. Since 1993, Marilyn co-owned Ron Schintler Custom Homes with her husband, Ron. She was very active in their construction company. Marilyn was a member of The Iowa City Homebuilders Association, and was a charter member of the association's Women's Auxiliary.
She enjoyed golfing and traveling, and especially snow skiing. She loved antiquing and spending hours doing yard work. Marilyn was a 5K runner and also raised funds for Iowa City Hospice.
The family would like to thank Pathways Adult Day Care and Crestview Rehab for their loving care they gave Marilyn.
Survivors include her husband, Ron; two sons, William of Iowa City and Robert of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Laurie Schintler (Tom Perdiou) of Fairfax, Va..; two brothers, Frank (Stella) Clark and Steve Clark; and a sister, Rose Clark, all of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James; a sister in-law, Debbie Clark; and a niece, Mary Clark.
