Schindler, Milver Charles
Milver Charles Schindler, 87, a resident of Willow Gardens in Marion, died there Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marion. The family will greet friends 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church, before the service. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include his sons, William Schindler and John (Andrea) Schindler; grandchildren, Dylan, Derek, Bailey and Dalton; brother, Delmer (Irene) Schindler; sister, Irene Schindler; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; parents; brother, Calvin Schindler; and sister, Shirley Dye.
Milver was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Charles P. and Katie (Klotz) Schindler. He married Phyllis Beach on May 15, 1949. Milver was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as Private 1st Class Ammunition Specialist during World War II. He had a 43 year career with Penford Products in Cedar Rapids, where he worked in the processing plant. Milver loved to travel and especially enjoyed wintering in Texas.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Milver's honor.
