Schindler, Dixie L.
Dixie L. Schindler, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheri (Gary) Tallman and Julie (Shannon) Estelle; three sons, Alan, Craig (Robyn) and Kevin, who served in the Navy for 20 years and his significant other Toni all of Cedar Rapids; and three brothers, Richard (Betty) Long of Arizona, Ronald (Pat) Long of Toddville and Paul Long of Cedar Rapids.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her pet dog, Princess.
Dixie was born June 16, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Dorothy Cantebury Long. She married Roy E. Schindler in 1958 in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced. Dixie was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, raising tomatoes and tending her roses, working in the kitchen and especially the time spent with her beloved family. She will be greatly missed and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
