Schinckel, Marvin
Marvin Schinckel, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was 84 years of age. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor, with the Rev. Brian Shepley officiating. Smith Funeral Home in Victor is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the Marvin Schinckel memorial fund and mailed in care to the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 485, Victor, IA 52347.

Marvin was born Jan. 19, 1928, to Remi and Celina DeClerq Schinckel in rural Brooklyn. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brooklyn. He attended rural school until the eighth grade.
He was united in marriage to Pauline DeRycke on Sept. 18, 1948, and to this union one daughter was born. The couple moved to Hartwick where they farmed with Pauline's parents on the family century farm south of Hartwick.
Marvin became of the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor and the Knights of Columbus after his marriage.
Marvin enjoyed anything that kept him in the fresh air and working with his hands, he also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Marvin is survived by his sister, Germaine (Don) Purdum; daughter, Bonnie (Bob) Barker of Victor; grandchildren, Vicki (Brian) York of Victor, Brian (Whitney) Barker of Victor, Janet Barker of Cedar Rapids, Troy Barker of Victor and Brad Barker of Victor; sister-in-law, Eula Schinckel of Grinnell; and his great-grandchildren, Grace and Kayla York of Victor.
Marvin and was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline in 2012; brothers, Albert and Raymond; and sister-in-law; Frances.
