Scherrer, Paul 'Jack'
Paul “Jack” Scherrer, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Jeffery J. (Sheronda) Scherrer of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer (Jason Hoffpauir) Scherrer of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Phyllis (Harlan) Baskerville of Marion, Georgette Hedley of Delhi, Jim Scherrer of Farley, Shirley Mathaney of Cedar Rapids and Kathy Babcock of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Gabby, Allen, Chrissy Scherrer, Gavin Hoffpauir and Hunter Scherrer; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Agnes Scherrer; sister-in-law, Bernice Scherrer; and brothers-in-law, Tim Mathaney and Bill Babcock.
Jack was born Feb. 8, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of George and Agnes (Henry) Scherrer. He attended school in Farley, Iowa. Jack married Pamela Streets, but they later divorced. Jack worked at the Palo Power plant, then later at Farmstead Foods/Wilson Foods for 18 years until they closed. He liked going to casinos, Rumors for card drawings and wings, Gilligan's and Time Out. Jack enjoyed camping, fake flowers in front of his house and going to races.
