Schappert, Orville L.
Orville L. Schappert, 72, of La Crosse, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse. A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Community Church of the Nazarene, 1831 George St., La Crosse. The Rev. Phillip Stein will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
He was born in Muscatine, Iowa on July 30, 1939, to Wilbur and Tacy (Schmidt) Schappert. Orville enjoyed collecting baseball cards and working at the flea mall. He also loved attending his church and spending time with the children.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Arnold (Laurie) Schappert of Cedar Rapids, Melvin Schappert of Dixon, Ill., and Bernie (Joan) Schappert and Laretta Schappert, both of La Crosse, Wis.; many nieces and nephews, including special nephew Shawn; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Weimann; sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and John McKee; sister, Ruthie Schappert; sister-in-law, Shirley Schappert (Melvin); and a nephew, Brian Schappert.
