Sayers, Dorothy JoAnn (Kniffen)
Dorothy JoAnn (Kniffen) Sayers, 81, of Indianola, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at her home. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry; two children, Timothy (Pat) Kniffen of Lisbon and Pamela Perry of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Tracy (Jerry) Vandee, Chrystal Henderson and Heather Henderson; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Kniffen, Vania Kniffen and Maddilynn Wallace.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dorothy was born July 17, 1931, the daughter of Earl and Helen (Langton) Mullinex, in Palo, Iowa. She was previously married to Charles Kniffen. On Oct. 28, 1989, Dorothy married Jerry Sayers in Nashau, Iowa. She worked in factories, as a CNA, worked for schools and various other jobs.
Dorothy was a member of the Women of the Moose and former member of Eagles and ABWA.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Dorothy.
