Savel, Ken R.
Ken R. Savel, 86, of Ogden Dunes, Ind., formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died peacefully on Sept. 14, 2012.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1925, to Jerry and Ruth (Modracek) Savel. On Sept. 22, 1950, he married Ursula (Messthaler), who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, John.
Ken was the loving father of Ann (Bud) Griffin, Jerry Savel, and Nancy (John) Ashby; father-in law to Deb (Sobczak) Savel; and grandfather of Jake and Taylor Savel, Danny and Kenny Griffin, and stepgrandchildren Erica and Aubrey Ashby.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. at Ogden Dunes Community Church, 116 Hillcrest Rd., Portage, IN 46368 (www.ogdenduneschurch.org), with a reception immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ken's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
