Sauer, Margaret E.
Margaret E. Sauer, 63, of Shellsburg, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the funeral home. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills. Following the burial service there will be a luncheon at Sacred Heart Hall in Walker.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Edwin; her children, Richard (Danelle) Sherbon of Alburnett, Laura Sauer of Cedar Rapids, Bonnie (Brad) DeWoody of Marion and April Sauer of Marion; eight grandchildren, Chase, Abigail, Kaydence, Cooper, Landen, Kaitlyn, Tyler and Zachary; a sister, Shirley (Don) Sauer; nieces, Kathy Lamphier and Sharon Sauer; and nephew, Daniel Sauer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Francis Sherbon Jr.
Margaret was born Oct. 4, 1948, the daughter of Francis and Elsie (Chrisman) Sherbon. She graduated from high school in Walker in 1967. On Feb. 25, 1970, she was united in marriage to Edwin Sauer in Cedar Rapids.
Margaret worked as a housekeeper for Living Center West for 28 years. She was a dedicated worker, enjoyed playing cards, gardening, shopping, crocheting, and loved to talk to everyone.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Margaret's name has been established at Bank of the West, North River Village office, 5000 Edgewood Rd. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
