Sather, Gloria May
Gloria May Sather, 88, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Gardner, Kan., passed away June 10, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center, Olathe. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, Kan. (913) 856-7111. Burial follows in Gardner Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the service.
Gloria was born May 15, 1923, in Sioux City, Iowa to Worth W. and Pauline L. (Moravec) Waltermire. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1941. Gloria married Lawrence N. Sather on July 11, 1943, in Sioux City. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1957, Orlando, Fla., in 1981, to Gardner Lake in 1987 and finally to Cedar Lake Village in 2003.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran, Olathe, Kan. Gloria worked as a bank teller for Live Stock National Bank in Sioux City, City National Bank in Cedar Rapids and First Kansas Bank and Gardner National Bank, both in Gardner.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria was an avid walker.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Sally Louise; her husband, Lawrence in 2005; sister, Davadene Compton; and son-in-law, David Livingston.
She is survived by her daughters, Glory Livingston, Wellsville, Kan., and April and husband Mel Powell, Wichita, Kan.; sister, Jacquelyn Rygh, Sioux City; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
