Sara Jean Bonnett, 64, of Marion, passed away at home after a brief illness on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015.
Sara was born May 13, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of F.W. "Nick" and Ione Shrope. Sara attended Roosevelt and Washington schools, graduating from Kennedy High School. She attended Cedar Rapids Business School and Kirkwood, later graduating from Hamilton Business College.
Sara married Dennis Bonnett; they later divorced.
For the past 28 years, Sara was a dedicated customer service representative at The Eastern Iowa Airport for various airlines.
She enjoyed reading, cross stitch, traveling and being with family and friends. Sara faithfully attended New Covenant Bible Church.
Sara is survived by her mother, Ione Shrope of Marion; a daughter, Stephanie Bonnett and fiance Kyle Rawson, and her grandchildren, Amber, Blake and Haley Rawson, all of Troy Mills.
She was preceded in death by her father, F.W. "Nick" Shrope; an infant sister, Gloria Frances Shrope; a son, Mark Bonnett; and grandparents.
Celebration of Life services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at New Covenant Bible Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to service time. Pastor Gary Deaville will officiate.
