Sandra Wilt, (formally Sandra Hess) 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Nov. 7, 2021, at Truman Lake Manor Nursing home in Lowery City, Mo. Gravesite services for the family will
be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Sandra's name.
Sandra Kay Leonard was born on Sept. 28, 1935, the daughter of John and Maxine (Hunter) Leonard. Sandra graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to James R. Hess on Dec. 6, 1953, at Trinty Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple had three sons and moved to Shawnee Kansas in 1973 and divorced in 1978.
In 1979 she married Frank C. Wilt. She worked for 25 years with ATT and Southwestern Bell, before retiring and moving with her husband to a small farm in Oceola, Mo.
Sandy's life centered around her family and friends. She loved cooking, needlepoint and being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Community Church of Oceola, Mo.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Hess of Marion, Iowa, and Robert Hess of Gardner, Kan.; along with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Susan K. Leonard of Marion, Iowa; five stepsons, Frank Alex Wilt, Jason Luke Wilt, Paul Wilt, Brian Wilt and Jason J. Wilt; and many friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; son, Scott; and stepson, Timothy.
