Sandra "Sandy" Duffy, 65, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at her home in Cascade.
Visitation for Sandy will be held from
2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 1, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa. Visitation will also be held after 9 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial for Sandy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Temple Hill, Iowa, with the Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be held in St. Peter's Cemetery in Temple Hill, Iowa.
Sandy was born Oct. 16, 1956, in Monticello, Iowa, daughter of Vern and Joyce (Metther) Houston. She received her education from Monticello High School in Monticello, Iowa. On Sept. 11, 1976, she was united in marriage to Thomas Duffy at Sacred Heart Church in Monticello, Iowa. She worked as a forklift driver at Tomy International, in Dyersville, Iowa.
Sandy was a very giving person; she would give you her last dollar if you were in need. She enjoyed shopping, golfing, and going to the casino with her husband and children. She also loved girls' day trips with her sister, nieces, and daughters, because they brought her lots of laughter and adventure as they never went as planned. Sandy loved spending her time with family and friends and enjoyed the family card parties.
She was a member of St. Peter's Parish in Temple Hill, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Duffy of Cascade; three children, Tina Duffy and T.J. Duffy, both of Monticello, and Tami Duffy of Cascade; four grandpuppies, Harley, Jethro, Lilann and Gunner; two siblings, Sue (John) Jaeger and Chuck Houston, both of Monticello; brothers and sisters-in law, Rose (Kenneth) Zieser of Coggon, Gerald "Bud" Duffy of Cascade, Marilyn (Harlan) Zuber of Williamsburg, Eldon "Dick" Duffy of Cascade, Mary (Wayne) Koutny of Cedar Rapids and Carol (Eldon) Rohlena of Pueblo West, Colo.; one brother-in-law, Dan (Diane) Nolte of Watkins; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Karen Houston in infancy and Sherri Cavenee; father and mother-in-law, William and Mary Duffy; brothers-in-law, Joseph Duffy and Donald Duffy; a sister-in-law, Jean Nolte; and a brother and sister-in-law both in infancy.
