SANDRA "SANDY" LEE SANBORN

Sandra "Sandy" Lee Sanborn, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 18, 2016. Graveside inurnment services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Sandra was born July 7, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Orton and Betty (Grady) Gralund. Sandy attended Jefferson High School. Sandy was united in marriage to Daryl Sanborn on July 9, 1988, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Square D, Amana Refrigeration and Bechtel Corp.
She was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, but traveled with her husband on various job assignments in many states, including Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and Las Vegas, Nev. Sandy will be remembered for her kind spirit, as she was a friend to all she met. Spending time with family and having fun at the casinos brought her joy. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Daryl; three children, Tammy (Brad) Rick of Center Point, Amy (Spencer) Jackson of Walford and Brandon Sanborn of St. Louis, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Crystal (Jim), Lukas, Kylee, Kelsey, Hannah, Matthew, Johanna, Emma, Nicole, Chase and Reece; a great-granddaughter, Presley; her father, Orton Gralund of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Barb Stanley of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Bill (Kathy) Gralund of Cedar Rapids and James Gralund of Denver, Colo.; her many nieces and nephews; three brothers-in-law, Wayne (Joan) Sanborn of Rhode Island, Ronnie Sanborn of Cedar Rapids and Kevin (Pattie) Sanborn of Cedar Rapids; and best friend, Roxanne (Dennis) Scofield of Solon.
She was preceded in death by her mother; brother-in-law, Melvin Stanley; mother- and father-in-law, Angie and Kenneth Sanborn; and two sisters-in-law, Carole Logsdon and Linda Sanborn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or to UnityPoint Hospice.
