Sandra McQuillen, 74, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello,
with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church. A parish vigil service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Surviving are three children, Lori (Tim) Patterson, Spring Hill, Kan., Matt (Beth) McQuillen, Anamosa, and Shawn (Kim) McQuillen, Monticello; two grandchildren, Maggie and Keziah; and her mother, Grace Walston, Peoria, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her father and her husband, Jerry, in 1993.
Sandra Sue Walston was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Coffins Grove Township, Delaware County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Grace Hutton Walston. Sandy graduated from Manchester High School in 1958. She married Gerald McQuillen on May 31, 1958, at Prairie du Chien, Wis. The couple lived in Monticello their entire married life. Sandy worked for 37 years at Energy Manufacturing as an inside sales representative. She retired in 2005.
Sandy loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, going mushroom hunting and fishing. She never missed an opportunity to go play the slots at the casino.
