Sandra Kay "Sandi" Cook, 80, of Marion, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at her home. Private family services will be held. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields are required.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; four daughters, Angela (Mike) Haggerty of Ankeny, Heidi (Jeffrey) Nassif of Marion, Kristen Cook of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer Cook of Marion; a son, Jefferson (Kimbra) of Center Point; as well as a brother, Charles (Sharon) Burlingame of Coralville. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sandi was born on July 14, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Benjamin and Marion (Rowe) Burlingame. She was a member of the first graduating class at Jefferson High School.
Sandi was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Cook on Oct. 8, 1960, in Cedar Rapids. She and Ken were the owners and operators of the Maid Rite at Lindale and Westdale Malls for many years.
Sandi was a faithful member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a past member of Tri T. She was an avid reader, enjoyed travel with her family and the time spent with her beloved family. Sandi will forever be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving Sandi.
