Sanders, Vena
Vena Sanders, 79, of Westminster, Calif., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 18, 2010, in Long Beach, Calif., following a short illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Spencer's Grove Cemetery, Walker.
She is survived by her sister Lula Perkov of St. Peters, Mo.; her niece and namesake, Vena (John) Stevens of St. Charles, Mo.; and 4 grandnieces, Dominique Concepcion of Long Beach, Calif., and Amy, Megan and Paige Stevens of St. Charles, Mo.
Vena is preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Genevieve Osborn; her husband of 56 years, Bob Sanders; and niece, Delia Concepcion.
Vena was born Dec. 29, 1930, the daughter of Roland and Genevieve (Flack) Osborn, in Walker. Iowa. She graduated from Walker High School in 1949. On Feb. 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert Sanders in Walker, Iowa.
