Sanders, June L.
June L. Sanders, 90, of Fayette, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 28, 2012, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Church of Christ in Arlington, with Pastor Scott Hall officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. American Legion Auxiliary service: 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.
June LaVon Crandall was born June 21, 1921, at Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Rudy W. and Maude Lorene (Henrich) Crandall. She graduated from the Arlington High School in 1939. On Dec. 27, 1941, she was united in marriage to Elvis H. Sanders at Arlington.
June was a devoted homemaker and farm wife and was employed as a cook at Upper Iowa College. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Arlington and American Legion Auxiliary in Maynard.
June is survived by her three children, Elva Jean (Merle) Stone of Toddville, Shirley (Roger) Schutz of Rochester, Minn., and Wayne Sanders of McKinney, Texas; five grandchildren, Jeff Stone, Shelley (Brian) Schlueter, Steve (Kezia) Schutz, Sheila (Rodrigo) Avila and Sam (Hilda) Schutz; five great-grandchildren, Ian and Evan Avila, Gabriela and Lucas Schutz and Jeff Schlueter; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Sanders of Waverly and Florence Sanders of Omaha, Neb.; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Mabel Crandall; husband; and two brothers-in-law, Wilbur and Howard Sanders.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
