Sander, Irene M.
Irene M. Sander, 90, of Lowden, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, with the Rev. Mark Buck. Burial: Lowden Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Survivors include his sons, Jimmy and Joey (Mary Jane) of Dewitt; daughters, Judy (Marlin) Mowry and Janie (Tim) Drewelow of Lowden; grandchildren, Eric (Allyson) Sander of West Des Moines, Kimberly (Matt) Sidlinger of Clinton, Gwen (Chris) VanGerpen of Decorah, Kimberly Miller, Matthew (Jenny) Drewelow of Cedar Rapids, and Christopher Drewelow of Cedar Rapids; two great-granddaughters; and two brothers, Ralph Gade of Wheatland, and Delmar Gade of Clarence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leona Wenndt; and brother, Leroy Gade.
Irene was born July 20, 1920, in Lowden, to August and Freida Sieling Gade. She married Lewis Sander on Jan. 14, 1942 at Kahoka, Mo., he died Dec. 22, 2002.
Irene had been employed by Dewitt Hospital and Lowden School as a cook until her retirement. She loved to bake coffee cake and pecan rolls and make potato salad and quilt for people all over the U.S.A. She was an avid stock car racing fan of Gade Motor Sports.
