Sanches, Max A.
Max A. Sanches, 74, of Hiawatha, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, by the Rev. Neil Manternach. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patricia; children, Tracy (Joe) Sargent of Littleton, Colo., Max (Imelda) Sanches of Huntley, Ill., and Nancy (Joe) Richlen of Cedar Rapids; sister, Diane Martin of Cookeville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Raphael.
Max was born June 12, 1936, in Denver, Colo., to Edward and Ella Sanches. He was in the Army and Air Force for over 21 years, serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He married Patricia Stockel in Dubuque in 1959. He was employed by the Dubuque Packing Co., John Deere, and retired from General Mills South Chicago Plant. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
