Sally May, 74, of Poinciana, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held in December in community of Solivita.
Sally was born on Jan. 11, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Jefferson High School and would eventually find employment at Quaker Oats where she worked for over 30 years. During that time, she earned a bachelor's degree from Coe College and a master's degree from University of Phoenix. Sally took retirement from Quaker Oats and moved to Florida to work with her brother Tim at his business Florida RS Technology.
Sally loved celebrating holidays with family where she was sure to have new dish and lots of dessert. She and Richard traveled the world, hitting all the continents. Sally was learning mahjong and had become an adept basket weaver. She enjoyed her friends and their outings at her community of Solivita.
She is survived by husband, Richard May; daughter, Casandra Coon (Matt); brother, Tim Spacek (Charlotte); sisters, Judy Aguilar(Juan) and Leanne Spacek (Gene Portz); and pets dogs, Zak and Zeva.
She was preceded in death by father, John Spacek; mother, Catherine Spacek; and sister, Terri Spacek Hunter.
A heartfelt thank-you to the Mayo Clinic. The doctors and staff in both Rochester and Jacksonville are top notch, we are forever grateful for your compassion and care.
