Saldivar, Paul Robert
Paul Robert Saldivar, 33, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Paul was born April 26, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Jesus and Connie (Tamayo) Saldivar. Paul attended Jefferson High School. He loved his job at Four Star Roofing, he said he felt closer to Indio working there. Paul's joy in life was being with his niece and nephews, riding horses at his brother's ranch, playing Xbox, goofing off with the kids, playing pool and hanging out with family and friends. There was nothing Paul wouldn't do to help others when in need. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Matthews; son, Paul Saldivar Jr.; stepchildren, Kodi, Dru and Tylar; siblings, Jessica Saldivar, all of Cedar Rapids, John (Tianna) Saldivar of Vinton, and Paulette Gandara, Fernando Saldivar and Jason Gandara; sister-in-law, Heather Saldivar; as well as many nieces and nephews, Bianca, Caleb, Calen, Cameron, Celayna, Chase, Dejahray, Devon, Diego, Johnny, Nico, Nicole, Noah, Shae, TeraJade and Xander all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie “Tamayo” Smith; brother, Jesse “Indio” Saldivar; grandparents, Enemecia “Momo” Tamayo and Joseph “Popo” Tamayo; and uncles, Anthony Tamayo and Gary Barker.
A memorial fund has been established with Dupaco Credit Union under “Memorial for Paul Saldivar.”
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lisa Waterbury and family, Zach Gorman and Local 89 Ironworkers.
