Saha, Glen Everett

Glen Everett Saha, 95, of South Bend, Ind., formerly of Palo, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, peacefully at Caring Junction in Mishawaka, Ind.
Glen was born April 29, 1917, in Palo, Iowa, to John and Blanche (Beatty) Saha. Glen received his bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering from Iowa State. He joined the United States Navy in 1946, receiving an honorable discharge in 1954. Glen then worked for the John Deere Co., in Moline, Ill., and the ChainBelt Co. of Springfield, Mass.
In 1954, he married Winifred Morphew, who attended the Divinity School of the University of Chicago with him. Their son, Kirk Edward, was born in October 1955. Glen moved to South Bend while working for David Poor Buildings of Warsaw, Ind. Subsequently he founded Saha Building Co., which today has over 100 steel buildings within the surrounding Michiana area.
He was a member of Toastmasters and First Unitarian Church. Later in life, Glen enjoyed performing as Bubbles the Clown and traveling, having been to Peru, South America, Australia, and China twice. Farming was in his blood and he loved talking about farming back in Iowa.
Glen had two sisters who preceded him in death, Mildred Saha Copp of Milwaukee (1995) and Eleanor Mae Saha of Palo (2006).
Surviving are son, Kirk, and daughter-in-law, Kim, of Mishawaka, Ind., and their two children, Kelly and Kyle Saha.
A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at First Unitarian Church, 1101 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Ind.
