Sadie "Sue" Suma, 85, longtime resident of the Marion area, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Emery Place Assisted Living in Robins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories officiated by Pastor Stasia Fine. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the chapel. Entombment will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sue was born Nov. 10, 1930, near Shellsburg, the daughter of George and Sophie (Krumm) Benesh. The family later moved to a farm near Marion. Sue graduated from Marion High School in 1948 and married Donald Suma on July 20, 1952.
Sue worked over 24 years at Mercy Medical Center before retiring. Don and Sue lived on an acreage near Cedar Rapids. Sue later moved to a condo in Marion.
Her family was her biggest enjoyment and her many vacations, especially to Anna Maria Island.
She is survived by son, Terry, his wife Connie, and three grandchildren, Staci (Thad) Shaffer of Marion, Tracy (David) Priske of Cedar Rapids and Chad Harris of Hiawatha; five great-grandchildren, Andrea Ford, Paiton Hale, Isabelle Anderson, Jacob Shaffer and Amanda (Brent) Bundy; a great-great-grandson, Simon Bundy; brother, Arlo (Velma) Benesh of Marion; sister, Madeline (Keith) Rowley of Orlando, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Boehm of Roseville, Calif.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws; her husband of 54 four years, Donald; a sister; a sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law; a niece; and a nephew.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial donations in Sue's name to Mercy Hospice.
