Sackett, Monty Martin
Monty Martin Sackett, 51, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 13, 1961, in Vinton, Iowa, son of Martin and Marcia Sackett. He married Kaylene Dighton Sackett on Dec. 11, 1981. Monty graduated from North-Linn High School in 1981. He was a lifelong farmer and dairy farmer since his graduation from high school. He was an avid wrestling fan of all ages, pee wee, high school and college. His spare time included spending time with his beloved family which also included his extended wrestling and Harley riding families. Monty never knew a stranger and always had a smile on his face.
Monty is survived by his wife, Kaylene; his daughter, Morgan and husband, Grant of Rochester, Minn.; a son, Madison of Walker; his mother, Marcia of Walker; and two brothers, Mark of Walker and Mitchell and wife Sarah of Walker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin.
Monty was the most loving, genuine person with the best smile and heart. He loved his wife and children above and beyond anything else. He had a great respect for the land that he had the opportunity to farm. His quick wit and humor will be sorely missed.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at North-Linn High School in Troy Mills, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the high school. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery. Reiff Funeral Home and Crematory, Independence, is in charge of arrangements.
