Ryan, Katie
Katie Ryan, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Private interment: St. Joseph Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Carney; children, Michael Ryan, Kathy Tegen and Jason Ryan, all of Cedar Rapids, and Vence Ryan of Vancouver, BC; sisters, Jackie O'Neal of Cedar Rapids and Jene Stahr of Des Moines; and grandchildren, Alison Tegen and Charity (Brian) Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark; and two brothers.
Katie was born Sept. 7, 1938, in Ryan, to Robert and Katie Patterson. She married Carney Ryan on Sept. 8, 1956, in Cedar Rapids. Katie liked spending time in her garden, doing arts and crafts and embroidering. Katie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her quick wit and forthcoming with honesty.
A memorial fund has been established.
