Ruth Darlene York, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral services: 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, Neb.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby of Cedar Rapids; son, Terry (Deb) York of York, Neb.; two daughters, Jeanette (Mike) Kipina of West Chester, Ohio, and Sandra (Mike) Bills of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Sydney and Abigail York, Andrew and Alex Kipina, Haley and Kelsey Bills; siblings, Barbara Ann (Bob) Wischman, Janice (Guy) Horn, Jerry (Penny) Stewart, Kenneth (Jean) Stewart, Linda (Larry) Meyer and James Stewart; nieces, Pat, Paula, Dusty, Stacey, Sherry and Jodi; and nephews, Brian, Mike, Tom, Mark, Eric, Joel, Ronnie, Scott and Dennis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ivan (Betty), George and John (Joyce) Stewart; and sisters, Dorothy Comstock and Judy Thoms.
Ruth was born Sept. 21, 1936, the daughter of Vernon and Gertrude (Brakhage) Stewart. On Oct. 22, 1960, Ruth married the love of her life, Bobby York. She and Bobby shared a special bond and did everything together. They often enjoyed outings to the casino. Everything she did was for her family, whether it was cooking meals for holidays or crocheting and cross stitching quilt tops for them. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
