RUTH ARLENE (FEISEL) SCOTT

Ruth Arlene (Feisel) Scott, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died May 14, 2022, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Janet (Gary) Runyan of Cedar Rapids, Elizabeth "Beth" Scott of Cedar Rapids and James "Jim" (Tonya) Scott of Ankeny; her brother, Lyle (Dorothy) Feisel of Chestertown Md.; sister-in-law, Rose Feisel; and brother and sister-in-law, Mike (Chris) Kriegel, all of Toledo. Also surviving are grandchildren, Cory Runyan, Scott (Leah) Runyan, Crystal (Corey Shea) Lorenz, Ashley (Tomas "TJ") Stuart and Andrew Scott; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Parker, Cohen, Madalyn, Evelyn and Otto; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ruth was born March 4, 1929, in rural Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Clara (Ehlers) Feisel. She married Gordon R. Scott on Nov. 14, 1954, in Tama, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2021; her parents; sister, Gail (Fred) Brandt; and brothers, Harry "Lee" Feisel, Mason (Barb) Feisel, Clifford "Cliff" (June) Feisel and Richard "Dick" (Joan) Feisel.
Ruth was a homemaker for many years and provided in home daycare for several children during those years. Once her children were in school, she returned to the workforce and worked for Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co. as a claims processor. Ruth also spent over 50 years teaching Sunday school to the preschoolers of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Family was very important to Ruth. She was instrumental in starting the Feisel Family Reunion which has run for over 40 years. Ruth was also known for her baking, especially her pies and chocolate chip cookies.
She and Gordon enjoyed spending time with their friends at the Meskwaki Casino. She found joy working in her garden and berry bushes and spent many years walking the timbers of Tama County in search of the elusive morel mushroom. Ruth loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
