Ruth Schuetz
RUTH SCHUETZ Monticello Ruth Schuetz, 94, of Monticello, died Monday, May 7, 2018. There will be no services per Ruth's request. Ruth was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Hoffman, Minn., the first daughter of Rufus and Anna Young, and lived her early years in Victor, Iowa, where her father was a minister at the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. She attended high school in Springfield, Ill., and college in River Forest, Ill. She lived and worked in Hawaii during World War II, returning to Monticello to marry and raise her family. Ruth was the administrator of the Senior Home in Monticello, and later Hilltop Senior Housing in Marion, Iowa. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Sam Lange and Liz Durfee, and most recently her great-granddaughters, Anna Lange and Riley Durfee. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Joe) Lange of Monticello, Paul Schuetz of Marion and Michelle (Kent) Jayne of Swisher; and sisters, Elizabeth Young and Miriam Feyerherm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her parents; three brothers, Paul, Rufus and Mark; and one sister, Esther.
