Ruth Scheetz, 95, of Luzerne, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, at Windsor Manor, Vinton, Iowa.
Ruth was born Oct. 24, 1925, to August and Elizabeth (Kranz) Janssen on the family farm near Vinton, Iowa. She graduated from Newhall High School in 1943 and worked for a short time following school. Ruth married Elmer Scheetz on Jan. 4, 1948, at St. John Lutheran Church, Newhall. Together they moved to rural Luzerne, where she was a proud farm wife and raised their family.
Ruth loved playing bingo, gardening, and never let an apple go to waste. She enjoyed fishing trips with Elmer to Minnesota and Canada.
Ruth was a member of First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, Belle Plaine Legion Auxillary, Friendly Neighbors Club and Ladies Aide church group.
She is survived by her children, Wayne (Cendie) Scheetz of Center Point, Lyle Scheetz of Luzerne, Edward (Gina) Scheetz of Belle Plaine and Rita (Mark) Musleh of Manhattan, Kan.; grandchildren, Brittany Shine and Bridget Musleh; great-grandchildren, Jemma and Stella Shine; brother, Hilbert Janssen of Vinton; and many more loving family and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer Scheetz; sister, Bernice Cottrell; and brother, Lawrence Janssen.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, at First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, with Pastor Dean Duncan officiating. Burial will take place at International Cemetery in Luzerne. Service will be livestreamed through the funeral service Facebook page. Memorials may be made to the Belle Plaine Area Ambulance. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Social distancing and masks are requested by the family.
The family would like to thank Windsor Manor in Vinton for all their passion and care with Ruth.
