Ruth O. Wilson, of Swisher, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at her home. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Shueyville United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment: Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, Iowa.
Ruth was born March 4, 1936, the daughter of William and Cora (Gjere) Christopherson, in Highlandville, Iowa. On Aug. 4, 1956, she was married to James Wesley Wilson. Ruth was employed several places, including Wilson's Packing House, Square D, Newport's Garden Center, and bookkeeping for Wilson's Rubbish Hauling. Her favorite job, however, was being a stay-at-home mother and taking care of her family, especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was very crafty and loved to make things for her family. She enjoyed doing puzzles, growing flowers, camping and feeding the birds.
Survivors include her three children, Dawn (Tom) Terrell, Jeff (Kris) Wilson and Andrea (Jim) Park; six grandchildren, Sonya (Matt Ironside) LaGrange, Samantha (Matt) Ternes, Andrew (Jessica) Wilson, Nicole (Mark) Svendesen, Eli Park and Gracie Park; 15 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Sanderson, Thelma Brown, Grace (Ken) Johnson, Crystal Thayer and Arlene (Ron) Vavroch; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sisters, Esther and Betty; and six brothers, Carmen, Ray, Wallace, Ivan, Frances and Jerome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, to be given to Ruth's favorite organizations.
