Ruth Marie Darling, 99, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at St. James- Trinity United Methodist Church by Pastor Jaymee Glenn-Burns. Burial: Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Ruth is survived by her son, Gary Darling (Julie Fox) of Ralston, Neb.; grandchildren, Ben Darling of Cedar Rapids, Melissa (Brian) Moyer of Altoona, Emory Darling and Veda Darling, both of Red Wing, Minn.; great-grandchild, Wren Moyer and three other great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Steve; grandson, Lucas; and sister, Dorothy Newport.
Ruth was born on Jan. 27, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of William and Mary Vejda Hemmer. She graduated from Wilson High School. On June 3, 1947, Ruth married Raymond Darling in Cedar Rapids. She was an organist for St. James and Salem Methodist Churches.
Ruth was a wonderful housewife, mother and musician. She enjoyed traveling, but loved having family time. Ruth will be missed.
