Ruth H. Gaede, 77, of Marion, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at Bickford Cottage in Marion. A visitation celebrating Ruth's life will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Memorial service will begin following the visitation at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Joel Gaede of Cedar Rapids; and four brothers, Gerhardt (Joan) of Fredericksburg, Texas, Paul (Ruth) of Fredericksburg, Texas, Harold (Barbara) of Hawkeye and Kenneth (Joyce) of Sumner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Gaede in 2013; sister, Doris; and two brothers, Max and Marvin.
Ruth H. Gaede was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Wausau, Wis., the daughter of Herman and Marie (Arndt) Diemer. She graduated from the Sumner High School in 1956. On Sept. 21, 1958, she married Ralph Gaede at Sumner. Ruth worked as a receptionist and office assistant for Dr. J.E. Whitmire in Sumner from 1956 to 1958. She also worked for Pratt AV and Video as a receptionist from 1981 to 1998. Ruth will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
