Ruth Margaret Dinter, 94, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids at a later date.
Survivors include her daughters, Dottie (Mel) Huerter of Marion and Dianne Dinter (Dick Prohaska) of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Jan Dinter of Davenport; grandchildren, Daniel Huerter of Cedar Rapids, David Dinter of Harrisburg, Pa., DeeAnn Riter and Denise Brown of Yorktown, Va., Darcie Egleston of Williamsburg, Va., and Daniel Mayer of San Diego, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Evelyn Swanson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; son, Dennis; two sisters; and three brothers.
Ruth was born July 22, 1921, to Glenn and Irene (Miller) Forrester in Leon, N.Y. She graduated from Randolph High School in Randolph, N.Y., then married John A. Dinter. She worked as an insurance agent for Bouslog-Verhille Insurance Agency until her retirement in 1989.
Ruth was a charter member of Hope United Church of Christ in Hiawatha. She also was a member of Insurance Women of Cedar Rapids, American Business Women's Association, Eastern Star Lodge, and was recognized in Who's Who in Iowa. Ruth also had her Ham Radio license (K0ITT).
Ruth was a very special lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
