Ruth Cox, 76, died peacefully, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Fairfax.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024, at S. S. Peter and Paul Lutheran church rural Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 7 on Tuesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Surviving are 3 children, Tim Cox, Stephanie Chappell, Jennifer (Brett) Morris, her Grandchildren, Mitchell (Kourtney) Kuipers, Allison Chappell, Caiden and Mikayla Morris, Carson Cox, Maggie and Lilly Lambert, her Great-Grandchildren Raelynn, Jaxson, Steven Jr, and Kaiden, a brother Robert (Janine) Bossard and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, a son Benjamin, a grandson Hunter Kuipers, a sister Linda Hall and a brother Rick Bossard.
Ruth Annette Bossard was born December 6, 1947, in East Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of Rudolf and Thelma Ree Bossard. Ruth attended Lovell #5 rural school and graduated from the Monticello Community High School in 1965. She continued her education at the University of Iowa. Ruth worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids before she married Merle Cox in November of 1967. They later divorced in 1978. She spent many years off and on as a waitress and bartender at the Hollywood Inn for her dad and brother Rick. Ruth retired in 2012 after 38 years working as a CNA at the Monticello Senior Home.
Ruth loved to sew, tend to her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as baking, reading and crossword puzzles.
