Ruth Ann Robison, age 84, died on February 11, 2025 at Bickford Senior Living in Marion, Iowa after a long Illness. She was born on June 28, 1940 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She married Dean Robison in 1959. They spent their lifetime together. Shortly after their marriage, Dean enlisted in the Navy, and she became the essential military wife, following Dean to various duty stations, in Memphis, San Diego, Pittsburg, Washington, D.C., and Norfolk. She was born and raised in the Quaker tradition, and notwithstanding Dean’s service in the Navy, never permitted a firearm in the house. During periods of Dean’s absence, which did include times of hazardous duty, she did whatever was necessary for the well-being of their family. She was a rock in times of trouble.
Ruth entered the workforce in 1972, working at Cardinal Sign Company, in Virginia Beach. When Dean left the service in 1978, the family moved to Marion, and Ruth began her employment at Paul Revere Insurance. She obtained her insurance license and later completed her bachelor’s degree in business from Mount Mercy. She and Dean retired in 2000 to enjoy a well-deserved retirement, splitting their time between Iowa in the summer and Texas in the winter until Dean’s death in 2022. Ruth especially loved quilting, ensuring that everyone in her family received a quilt in various traditional patterns ranging from Pinwheels to Wedding Circles to Bear Claws.
Ruth is survived by four children, Larry, Jeorgia, Michael and his wife Regina, and Karen, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, and her parents George and Ellen Lou Folks, her brother Gayle Folks and sister Carol O’Hare.
Services for Ruth will be held at Marion Christian Church in Marion, Iowa on Friday, February 21, 2025 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Gifts can be made to any benevolent charity of your choosing.
