With heartfelt sadness, we share the news of Ruth A. Jacobson, a vibrant spirit of 92 years, who peacefully passed away on February 6, 2025, at The Gardens in Cedar Rapids. Ruth lived a life full of love and generosity, leaving behind countless cherished memories.
A special visitation will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the welcoming Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. Join us as we celebrate Ruth's remarkable life at her memorial service, starting at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. She will be laid to rest in the serene Wyoming Cemetery. The dedicated team of Dawson Funeral Services in Wyoming is honored to care for her family during this time.
Born on January 15, 1933, in Anamosa, Iowa, Ruth was the beloved daughter of Edwin and Irma (Cass) Wilcox. In April 1952, she joyfully married Harlan Jacobson, embarking on a beautiful journey of love and partnership. While Ruth dedicated many years to being a nurturing homemaker, in the early 1970s, she took on a new adventure as the bookkeeper at Lehrman Equipment, where she made many lasting friendships. Ruth was an active member of both St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and her cherished Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. Her selflessness shone brightly when she earned the “Volunteer of the Year” award in 2007 for her devoted service at St. Luke's Hospice. Whether providing rides to appointments or assisting others with daily tasks, Ruth’s kindness knew no bounds. Travel was another passion of Ruth’s, as she loved exploring the world with Harlan and continued to embark on adventures even after his passing. In her leisure time, she found joy in sewing, crafting beautiful clothes for her family and doll outfits for her granddaughters.
Ruth’s legacy will undoubtedly live on through her loving family: children Linda (David) Hansen of Cedar Falls and Randy (Connie) Jacobson of Cedar Rapids, alongside her three grandchildren Jennifer (Jeff) Haefner, Kirk (Molly) Hansen, Kimberly (Brett) Albertsen and three great-grandchildren: Lauren Haefer, Evan Haefer and Ruby Albertsen.
Though she is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Ruth's impact on those around her will forever be cherished.
To honor Ruth’s memory, memorials may be directed to St. Luke’s Hospice, Wyoming Historical Museum, Midland Ambulance or the Wyoming Public Library. Online condolences can be shared at www.dawsonfuneral.com, and cards can be sent to Dawson Funeral Services, Attn: Ruth Jacobson Family, PO Box 258, Wyoming, Iowa 52362.
