Rutan, Steven L.
Steven L. Rutan, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Good News Baptist Church, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Osterkamp Jr. will officiate. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Wanda; his children, Michele Rutan, of Cedar Rapids, Lantz (Marla) Rutan of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Anthony Rutan of Cedar Rapids, Sherry (Darrel) Freshour of Marion, Darnell Brown of San Antonio, Texas, Carrie (Gary) Schmidt of Cedar Rapids and Michelle (Paul) Lehmkuhl of Cedar Rapids; and his siblings, Mark Rutan of Anamosa, Barry (Audrey) Rutan of Anamosa and Brian Rutan of Olin.
Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Steven was born May 7, 1947, in Anamosa, the son of Theodore and Shirley Hopkins Rutan. He married Wanda L. Kohl on May 28, 1983 in Cedar Rapids. Steven operated Rutan's Jigs (fishing lures) and was a member of Good News Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He enjoyed getting away to his favorite fishing hole as often as he could.
He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
