He married Darlene Rae Anderson on March 4, 1967, in Omaha, Neb. Russ worked for United Fire and Casualty Group and NAS Surety Group before retiring in 2007.
Russ was a devoted and loyal husband, father and friend. He enjoyed coaching and watching his boys and grandchildren. As a member of First Lutheran Church, he was a strong Lutheran with a deep faith. Russ enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and was a very talented singer. He loved spending his time playing golf, fishing at Big Spirit Lake, telling jokes and sharing stories with his many close friends. The Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals and LA Dodgers were his favorite teams.
The only thing he loved more than sports was spending time with his wife, his family and his friends.
