Russell O. Carver, 87, of Fairfax, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.
A funeral service celebrating Russell's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial with military rites will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Evelyn of Fairfax; sons, David (Connie) Carver of Marion, Duane (Lee) Carver of Fairfax and Donald (Beth) Carver of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Judy) Carver of Vinton; and sisters, Mary Rose of Cedar Rapids and Doris Wagner of Barnhart, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother- and father-in-law; brother, Ralph Carver; and brothers-in-law, John Lockhart, Jerry Walkner, Allen Walkner, Oliver Walkner, Harley Lazenby and Curtis Schantz.
Russell O. Carver was born April 1, 1931, in Coggon, Iowa, the son of Loren and Mildred (Mittan) Carver. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On June 11, 1955, he married Evelyn Walkner in Marion, Iowa. Russell worked for Cryovac Inc. for many years and then owned and operated his own construction company until retiring in 1995.
