Russell Bumbarger, 86, of Marion, passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Private family services will be held.
Russell was born on July 22, 1930, the son of Wayne and Dot (Thompson) Bumbarger. Russell served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was a Golden Gloves boxer. He retired from Quaker Oats Co. after 40-plus years. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles. His love for race cars never stopped in his later years; he continued to watch Indy racing and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith Bumbarger; and sister, Joyce.
Left to cherish Russell's memories are his children, Susan Detert, Lisa (Kevin) Ciha and Vicki Bumbarger; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Bernal (Betty) Bumbarger; and close friend, Don Rompot.
A memorial fund has been established in Russell's name.
