Born July 8, 1908, in Chicago, the daughter of Bernard and Clara Mueller, she married George “Jack” Ruprecht there on May 26, 1934. Ruth graduated in 1926 in Chicago, valedictorian of her class. Her high school activities were many musical organizations and operettas, many awards for ice skating and basketball and she also enjoyed playing tennis. Ruth and George moved to Clarence in 1940 and had their one child, Gar, on Oct. 11,1941.
Ruth was a lifetime dedicated St. Paul's Lutheran Church worker and was also active in Vacation Bible School, was a Cub Scout den mother, a member of Loyal Workers, a past president, treasurer and secretary of the Lutheran Woman's Ladies Aid, the Cultus Club and two bridge clubs. She was always ahomemaker. She and George loved going to Elderhostel classes at many various colleges for several years. They traveled quite extensively within Europe, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii and to every state.
Other interests included crafts - making hundreds of pretty things, including attractive Christmas ornaments, collecting blue glassware, arranging flowers, baking many decorated angel food cakes and numerous kinds of fancy Christmas cookies. She was a fabulous cook and baker.
Even in her late 80s she still walked 12+ blocks to the nursing home and downtown. At age 100 1/2, Ruth still lived alone in her home, preparing her own meals, doing her own banking and still pursuing her interests.
Survivors include her son, Gar (Nancy) of Shueyville; grandson, Monte (Shelly) of Toddville; stepgrandson, Steve of Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in February 1994; and a brother, Luther.
