Rummel, Lena L.
Lena L. Rummel, 86, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 13, 2012, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein.
Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein, Iowa, with Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church; Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Oelwein, Iowa.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Lena Lorraine Wirth was born June 24, 1925 at Wadena, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Mabel (Crane) Wirth. She married Wayne Clifton Rummel on Nov. 18, 1942 at Strawberry Point, Iowa. Lena was a presser at City Laundering Co. in Oelwein for many years. She had been a resident of Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein since October 2011.
Lena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and will be missed by all.
Lena is survived by two sons, Gary (Margaret) Rummel of Hiawatha, Iowa and Richard (Rosemary) Rummel of Monti, Iowa; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, LaFonda Watson (Herald Stagman) of Oelwein, Iowa; brothers- and sisters-in law; many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Virginia Roete of Oelwein, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne C. Rummel on Oct. 28, 1996; stepfather, Dayton Scovel; son, Robert Rummel; granddaughter, Jody Rummel; great-grandson, Cooper Rummel; and three brothers, Ivan Wirth, Jim Wirth and Irvin Scovel.
