RUDOLPH H. LNENICKA
Bertram
Rudolph H. Lnenicka went to be with his sweetheart, Irene, in heaven on Feb. 26, 2017. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Campbell Cemetery, with the Rev. Jennifer Zoller presiding. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery. A celebration of life will be immediately following the committal at the Bertram Hall. Affinity Burial and Cremation in Cedar Rapids is caring for Rudy and his family.
Rudy was born to Edward and Agnes (Svoboda) Lnenicka on Aug. 21, 1927, in rural Ely. The family later moved to Bertram, where Rudy lived in and around most of his life. He loved playing cards, especially euchre, going to consignment and livestock sales, casino trips and dancing the two step with Irene, especially to their favorite song, "The Key's in the Mailbox."
He loved the farm life, planting crops and baling hay. But his passion was his animals: horses, goats, chickens, pigs, cows, geese and especially mules. He would hook up the mule to the wagon and give rides to the family, children and neighbors all around Bertram. Rudy always had time to help others as well as share a great story or two.
Rudy served his country in World War II in the Army as a corporal and surgical technician from 1945 to 1947 in Germany. He was awarded an Army of Occupational Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. Rudy had various jobs throughout his life at Wilsons, Collins Radio, Iowa Manufacturing and retired from Cimino Distributing, with 27 years in 1984, as the "Hamm's Man." Rudy married Irene Burgher on Oct. 12, 1963, in Oquawka, Ill., with Bill and Virginia Hanson attending.
He is survived by their children, Donna (Larry) Bowers, Terry Veenstra, John Burgher, Deb (Steve) Clair, Ruth (Bill) Cellman, Mark Lnenicka and Peg (RJ) Graves; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Rudy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene; his parents; brothers, Edwin, Bob and Leonard; and sisters, Wilma, Adeline and Angeline.
Heaven is blessed with another great Angel.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Willow Gardens Care Center and Mercy Medical Center for our father's care.
