Rucker, Margaret J.

Margaret J. Rucker, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jay Jentink. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her son, John (Judy) Rucker of Camdenton, Mo.; three grandchildren, Rob Rucker of Montana, Traci (Brian) Freeberg of Cedar Rapids and Stacy (Jim) Fleming of Camdenton, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren, Cody and Jenna Freeberg and Delacy Shoemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert.

Margaret was born Sept. 21, 1928, the daughter of Herbert and Thelma (Rosnett) Foehrer, in Danville, Ill. On June 30, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert Rucker in Danville. He died Jan. 31, 2006. Margaret was a telephone operator in Danville for six years and worked at Killian's Department Store in downtown Cedar Rapids. She also volunteered at Mercy Medical Center and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Margaret enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball, doing cross stitch and attending church activities. Margaret loved Christmas time and her family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
